KENNEWICK, Wash. – The Kennewick Irrigation District (KID) is increasing assessments for the upcoming irrigation season, according to a press release.
Irrigation assessments fund the maintenance and upkeep of canals, pipes and other irrigation infrastructure that brings water to homes, farms and businesses in the district.
The rate could be between 8 and 18 percent based on acreage in a tiered rate structure.
The KID Board of Directors approved the assessment increase after carefully considering multiple factors, including inflation, drought mitigation, urbanization and making minimal rate increases in past years.
