Kennewick home destroyed in fire, two firefighters treated for heat exaustion

KENNEWICK, Wash.–A home owner is suffering from burns to his face and arms after the house caught on fire.

The property owner was able to evacuate with two dogs prior to crews arriving this morning, but a firefighter rescued a third dog when they got there, according to the Benton County Fire District #1. The homeowner declined treatment at the scene for his burns, but was transported away in a personal vehicle.

The fire, which started shortly before 7 a.m., was under control shortly before 8 a.m., but the house was destroyed, according to BCFD#1. Two firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion.

A downed power line blocked main access to the property, and Benton PUD de-energized the line, according to BCFD#1.
