KENNEWICK, Wash. – Kennewick Fire Department responded to a series of fires across the city Tuesday night, urging residents to exercise caution with fire safety.

Fires were reported at W 21st Ave and S Columbia Center Blvd, W Canal Dr. and N Quincy St and W 42nd Ave and S Union St.

A fourth fire broke out at W Clearwater Ave and N Columbia Center Blvd, which was quickly extinguished by emergency crews.

Michael Heffner, Deputy Fire Chief, highlighted potential causes, saying, “Although we can’t independently determine that fireworks did cause the fire, improperly discarded burning materials, cigarettes, etc. could have caused the fire.”

He added that dragging chains from trailers could also create sparks, emphasizing the need for caution.
