KENNEWICK, Wash. – A stolen dirt bike was recovered yesterday afternoon in Kennewick after a Pro-Act detective spotted it in the area of E. 2nd Avenue and S. Date Street. According to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, the rider, wearing a ski mask and backpack, fled at high speed when the detective attempted to stop him.

The detective opted not to pursue the rider and instead called for additional deputies to set up in the area. The suspect was seen heading into Finley, prompting deputies to search the area around Two Rivers Park.

A juvenile male, matching the suspect’s description, was detained on Finley Road. It appeared he had removed some clothing items to avoid being caught.

Deputies suspected the bike was abandoned near the boat launch. K-9 Riff was brought in to assist and successfully tracked the bike along the river trail, where the suspect’s clothing and backpack were found.

The dirt bike was returned to its rightful owner. The juvenile male was booked on multiple criminal charges.
