Kamiakin High School wins statewide award for inclusive culture

KENNEWICK, Wash. – Kamiakin High School has been recognized by the Association of Washington School Leaders (AWSL) with the Culture Kick-Off Award.

This award celebrates schools that foster welcoming and inclusive environments and highlights schools that set a positive tone for the year with engaging assemblies, strong school themes and community-building activities.

Kamiakin’s efforts include the Welcome Wagon and LINK Crew’s Freshmen Only Day, along with numerous behind-the-scenes activities to ensure every student feels connected.

Principal Chris Chelin expressed his pride in the school’s achievements.

“This recognition is a reflection of the incredible dedication of our staff and students,” said Chelin.

He emphasized the school’s belief that shared experiences strengthen relationships and help every student “Be The Best They Can Be.”
