K9 unit dispatched on man taking items from Kennewick business

KENNEWICK, Wash.–A person took items from a local business and was deemed a suspicious person.

Officers used video cameras from the business to locate the 59-year-old man, who was not supposed to be there, and were found probable cause to arrested him for 2nd degree burglary after finding him, according to the Kennewick Police Department.

The man ignored officers’ commands to surrender, so KPD dispatched a K9 to assist, according to police. He immediately surrendered upon K9 arrival.

He is now booked in the Benton County Jail for 2nd degree burglary, resisting arrest and obstructing a law enforcement officer, according to KPD.
