
YAKIMA, Wash. – UPDATE Feb. 13
The Yakima Valley Special Investigations Unit is looking for witnesses who may have captured video of the shooting or any events leading up to it.
A press release says a 30-year-old man was killed in the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.

UPDATE 9:16 p.m.
According to a Yakima Police Department news release, The officer who was involved in the shooting has been identified as K9 officer Brad Aulthauser. Aulthauser has been with the department for 12 years.
According to YPD, an administrative investigation is being conducted to determine if the officers actions were in accordance with Yakima Police Department policies and procedures.
The administrative review is separate from the ongoing investigation being conducted by the Yakima Valley Special Investigations Unit.

A man walked into Oxford Suites in Yakima with a gun on Saturday, and upon arrival, officers determined he was dealing with a mental health issue.
Yakima Police Department PIO Casey Schilperoort said the incident resulted in an officer shooting at the man, who died.
Schilperoort said the next steps after an officer-involved shooting will be an investigation by the Yakima Valley Special Investigation Unit.
