YAKIMA, Wash. – An investigation into the assault of a 61-year-old man ended Monday after detectives found that the 35-year-old suspect had died, according to the Yakima Police Department.
YPD says on Sat., March 15 at around 10 a.m., the 61-year-old was assaulted in the area of 400 E. Yakima Ave. by an unknown man, later identified as the 35-year-old.
Officers could not find the suspect on the day of the report.
On Mon., March 17, detectives got access to security footage of the assault and identified the 35-year-old suspect. But through the investigation, detectives found that he had died the night of the assault in an apparent overdose incident.
The investigation is now closed, as the man was the only suspect in the matter.
