LOS ANGELES — A dog named Indy made history by winning an acting award. Indy starred in the film “Good Boy” and took home the Best Performance in a Horror or Thriller award at the 9th Annual Astra Film Awards.

Indy’s win is notable as the award is usually given to human actors. This year, Indy beat out competitors Ethan Hawke, Alison Brie and Sally Hawkins to win.

Ben Leonberg, the director of “Good Boy” and Indy’s owner, accepted the award with Indy by his side. In an Instagram post, Leonberg shared their excitement.

“On behalf of Indy, we are so grateful and thrilled to be recognized for his work in a movie he does not totally understand he was in,” said Leonberg.

Indy’s achievement shines a light on the talents of animal actors in the film industry.
