RICHLAND, Wash. – Indivisible Tri-Cities is organizing a rally at Rep. Dan Newhouse’s office to protest proposed cuts to Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at 3100 George Washington Way in Richland.

The rally aims to challenge the House Republican budget, which includes reductions to these programs while extending tax breaks to billionaires and corporations, Indivisible Tri-Cities implied in a release.

“Medicaid and SNAP are lifelines for our community, not bargaining chips to fund more corporate tax cuts,” said Loren Malone, spokesperson for Indivisible Tri-Cities.

Participants at the rally will be asked to share personal stories, display signs and urge Rep. Newhouse to reject budget cuts that threaten essential services.

“Our families can’t afford to fund more tax breaks for the wealthy while their healthcare and food security hang in the balance,” Malone added.
