
YAKIMA, Wash. – A house in Yakima caught fire early Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of an animal and six people being displaced.
Yakima Fire Department Captain Jeremiah Stilley says the fire started at around 5:30 a.m. in the 300 block of North 27th Avenue.
The fire started within the house and threatened other nearby structures, however crews were able to contain it to the original building.
The home, estimated at $350,000 in value, was entirely lost in the fire. No one was injured, however one animal died and six people were displaced.
Stilley says the fire was fully contained by 6:06 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation by YFD.
North 27th Avenue was temporarily closed due to the fire and fully cleared by 8:30 a.m.
