KENNEWICK, Wash. – The Farmers Exchange building in downtown Kennewick has been added to the National Register of Historic Places, according to the Washington Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation.

This marks the first time a property in downtown Kennewick has received such recognition, the city of Kennewick said in a release.

Built in 1912, the building served as the city’s agricultural supply hub for over a century before ceasing operations in 2024.

Its new status may open opportunities for preservation grants and historic tax incentives, making it an attractive option for investment.

The property, located at 215 W. Canal Drive was acquired by Banner Bank through foreclosure and is now for sale.
