Hanford, Wash. – Brian Vance, the Hanford Field Office manager, has announced his resignation effective April 24, 2025.
In a letter to Hanford Site employees, Vance expressed gratitude for his seven years at Hanford, describing it as the most rewarding period of his career.
Vance highlighted key achievements during his tenure, such as protecting the Columbia River from contamination, signing a holistic agreement for tank waste remediation, and treating over 2 billion gallons of groundwater for eleven consecutive years.
He also noted the upcoming milestone of the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant beginning to vitrify tank waste later this year.
“This achievement is monumental and will represent an accomplishment that some felt would never be realized,” Vance stated in the letter.
As he transitions to the private sector, Vance expressed confidence in the Hanford team, including federal workers, contractors, and regulatory partners, to continue the site’s important work.
Hanford has not named Vance’s replacement.
Brian Stickney, the deputy manager for the Hanford Field Office, already announced his retirement plans.
Stickney will retire at the end of 2025, marking the end of his tenure at Hanford.
