Hanford event to spotlight women’s roles during Cold War era

HANFORD, Wash. – In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8, a special event will highlight the significant contributions of women at the Hanford site during the Cold War years.

The event, part of the “Let’s Talk About Hanford” series, will feature guest speakers Teresa Andre and Megan Simpson.

Andre is a member of the B Reactor Museum Association and has a background in education and history. She is involved in various historical projects, including serving as a Humanities Washington Speaker Bureau presenter.

Simpson, a public historian, specializes in the Manhattan Project and Cold War era. Her work focuses on making complex historical topics accessible to public audiences.

The event will begin with a presentation followed by a live Q&A session. It will be streamed live on Zoom and Facebook Live at 6:00 p.m. PT on March 18, 2026.

The “Let’s Talk About Hanford” series started in March 2021 to educate the public on the Hanford site’s history and nuclear cleanup efforts.

The discussions are designed for those new to Hanford, those seeking a refresher, or those wishing to expand their knowledge.
