RICHLAND, Wash. – A Benton County jury has found Antoine Surge guilty of murder in the second degree with a firearm enhancement after a 9-day trial.
The Benton County Prosecutor’s Office said in a release that the verdict was reached after a day and a half of deliberation.
Surge, 43, was arrested on May 30, 2023, with assistance from the Ellensburg Police Department, after a nationwide warrant had been issued for his arrest in the killing of 21-year-old Edree Thompson.
Thompson was shot at the Columbia Park Apartments on May 19, 2023. His death led to a homicide investigation by the Richland Police Department.
Surge was also arrested in September 2019 following a standoff near the intersection of Highlands and Williams Roads in Benton City.
Kennewick Police and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office were searching for Surge following a report that he used a firearm as a weapon to assault another man.
