RICHLAND, Wash.– For decades, Tri-Cities Miss Juneteenth has supported their young women with education and the tools to succeed after high school. Most of that education comes through the pageant process, but Saturday, Feb. 21’s event hopes to support them in a more material way.
At 6 p.m., their annual auction, dinner, fashion show and fundraiser will grace the Riverfront Hotel in Richland.
Elouise Sparks, the Founder and President of the scholarship program, says the event works towards multiple missions of Miss Juneteenth–giving material support, but also confidence, to young, black men and women of the Tri-Cities.
Reigning “King of the Runway” Harold Campbell joined the show as well, offering the boys a handy fashion tip, but also some prescient wisdom, stating that supporting young black women for life after high school is reason enough to get involved.
There will also be an auction at the event, as well as dinner, provided by Flavors by Big Mama.
Tri-Cities Miss Juneteenth is also still looking for young African American women between 10th and 12th grade to get involved with the pageants. You can check Tri-Cities Miss Juneteenth’s website for more details.
