Fugitive arrested in Benton County on multiple charges

BENTON COUNTY, Wash. – Dillon Carter, a fugitive from Oregon, was safely arrested by law enforcement agencies in Benton County, according the Kennewick Police Department.

The arrest was made in collaboration with the U.S. Marshals Service, Benton County Sheriff’s Office PACT, CAT, and Tri-City Regional SWAT Team.

Carter was located at a residence in the 900 block of N. Lincoln St. Officers contained the area, using a drone to ensure safety before taking Carter into custody without incident.

Carter was wanted for several charges, including unlawful use of a weapon, robbery, burglary, aggravated theft, and pointing a firearm at another. He also faced multiple counts of possession of a stolen vehicle.

During the search, officers recovered a handgun, rifle, and about two pounds of narcotics, including fentanyl, ketamine, and methamphetamine. A missing juvenile, involved in a custody dispute, was also found and authorities were notified for their safe return.

Carter now faces additional local charges for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The operation placed a nearby school on Secure & Teach status as a precaution. School staff were informed throughout and notified once the area was safe.
