PASCO, Wash. – The State Director of Rural Development for the United States Department of Agriculture visited Pasco to meet with Franklin County commissioners and residents. The focus was on issues unique to central Washington’s rural communities.
Topics included emergency services, water issues, and broadband expansion. These are pressing concerns for Franklin County residents who gathered to connect with USDA representatives.
The USDA State Director of Rural Development was present to hear these concerns. “If there are needs in rural America, we want to get out there and get the money obligated where it’s needed,” he said.
Residents also highlighted the need for funding to improve local infrastructure. “Our water system has approximately 50 homes on it is 70 years old. And the pipe, we are constantly having breaks in our line and we just don’t have the funds… And it’s just community members trying to help keep it going. But it’s it’s pretty tough,” said a Franklin County resident.
USDA Rural Development Director Pearson continued his visit in Franklin County, engaging directly with the community to better understand their needs.
