WEST RICHLAND, Wash. – The City of West Richland and the West Richland Police Department have announced Steven Crown as the Interim Police Chief. Crown steps in as Chief Grego takes planned leave before retirement, a City of West Richland release said.
The city said Crown brings 33 years of law enforcement experience. He began his career with the Wenatchee Police Department, advancing through roles like gang specialist and detective. In 2002, he joined the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, eventually becoming Chief of Police in 2013.
In 2016, Crown returned to the Wenatchee Police Department as Chief of Police, serving until his retirement last March. His extensive experience in policing and leadership makes him a valuable asset to the West Richland Police Department.
“We are excited to have Chief Crown lead our police department during this transition,” Mayor Brent Gerry said. “His experience and dedication to public safety will provide stability and strong leadership while we conduct our search for a permanent Chief of Police.”
Crown will collaborate with WRPD officers, city officials, and the community to maintain continuity in policing services while the city seeks a permanent chief.
