LOS ANGELES, Calif. — An investigation is underway following the death of former NFL player Kevin Johnson, who was found Wednesday morning at a homeless encampment.
The 55-year-old former defensive lineman had been stabbed and suffered blunt trauma to the head, according to police.
The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide.
Friends of Johnson shared that health issues later in life contributed to his housing instability. Investigators believe he had been living at the encampment.
Johnson played in the 1990s, mostly for the Philadelphia Eagles and the team formerly known as the Oakland Raiders.
