KENNEWICK, Wash.–A fire around 25 acres was threatening wind turbines.
The fire, off Owens Rd between Hwy 397 and Bateman Rd, was 20 acres when Benton County Fire District #1 first responded around 8:45 p.m., said BCFD#1 public information officer Jenna Roberts.
Some witnesses reported it might have started when someone was doing target shooting, but the Benton County Sheriff’s Office will investigate the cause, Roberts said. The fire is still active but dozers are working on lines around the fire.
