
RICHLAND, Wash. – A fire broke out at the Water’s Edge Apartments shortly after 11 a.m., according to the Richland Fire Department Battalion Chief Brenda Rodgers.
The incident began when a smoke alarm alerted a maintenance worker who noticed smoke and promptly called 911. The apartment was unattended at the time.
Crews from Kennewick Fire, Pasco Fire, Richland Fire and West Richland Fire responded to the scene and successfully extinguished the flames.
The fire was caused by unattended candles. Fortunately, there were no injuries, and the damage to the apartment was minor.
The building was evacuated as a precaution during the incident.
