FINLEY, Wash. – Benton County sheriff’s deputies arrested a man accused of holding a woman against her will on Saturday, March 29.

Investigators said in a release that a Finley couple were involved in a domestic violence situation over infidelity and control issues when the man held her to the ground and prevented her from escaping to a nearby neighbor.

During the altercation, investigators said he took her cell phone, hindering her ability to call 911 for help.

The woman eventually managed to escape and the man was booked into Benton County jail on charges of unlawful imprisonment, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, and fourth-degree assault, investigators said.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office says these situations can escalate quickly and become violent. Investigators urge individuals in domestic violence relationships to seek assistance and use available resources to prevent such incidents.
