FINLEY, Wash. – Fire crews responded to a fire at Greenbrier Rail Services in Finley during the early afternoon hours of Monday, April 21.

When Benton County Fire District 1 (BCFD1) arrived at the facility on East Cochran, BCFD1 spokeswoman Jenna Roberts said crews found a 250-foot-long sand blasting steel structure filled with smoke.

The fire was located inside a blasting bin, which collects sand and debris from sand blasting operations, BCFD1 said in a release.

Several filters inside the bin burned and were removed, but there was no fire damage to the sand and blast tunnel. Only minor damage occurred to the blast bin.

No injuries were reported. BCFD1 said the fire did not appear suspicious.
