PASCO, Wash. – Tri-Cities Animal Services in Pasco is hosting a unique event this Saturday, September 27.

The “Felines and Firefighters” event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., offering a chance for the community to adopt cats while connecting with local fire departments.

The event, organized by the City of Pasco, will feature fire departments from across the Tri-Cities.

This initiative aims to promote animal adoptions and foster a connection between the community, firefighters, and available-for-adoption animals.

Most of the animals available for adoption have been treated, vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered. ‘

The adoption fee is set at $50. Visitors are encouraged to check with staff regarding the availability of specific animals.

Ben Zigen, manager of Tri-Cities Animal Services, highlighted the importance of the event.

“Since we’re all… first responders for complaints and animal rescues and whatnot, we’re teaming up to promote animal adoptions here at the animal shelter,” said Zigen.

“We run pretty much at full capacity all year round. There are so many homeless animals out there in the community. This adoption event is going to help clear some rooms so we can bring in even more homeless animals.”

The event is not only about finding homes for animals but also offers children a chance to interact with local fire departments.

Chris Mortensen, Deputy Chief for the Pasco Fire Department, explained the benefits for firefighters.

“…A lot of firefighters are all animal lovers… We really enjoy serving the public in all demographics so that does include our fur-friends, and we just want to make sure that they get into a forever home,” said Mortensen.

It will be held at Tri-Cities Animal Services located at 1312 South 18th Avenue in Pasco. Readers interested in adopting a pet or learning more about the event can visit this link.
