
SELAH, Wash. — The Selah Police Department has announced state charges against Preston Funderburgh in the investigation of the death of his four-year-old son, Alaric “AJ” Funderburgh.
AJ’s remains were found in the Cowiche Mill Road area in April 2025.
A Yakima County Superior Court judge issued an arrest warrant Tuesday for Funderburgh, 34, on homicide by abuse, second-degree criminal mistreatment, second-degree assault of a child, tampering with a witness and harassment charges.
Additional charges include obstructing a law enforcement officer, making false or misleading statements to a public servant, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence, tampering with physical evidence, coercion and unlawful disposal of remains.
These charges are in addition to existing federal charges of theft of government money and four counts of wire fraud. Funderburgh remains in custody.
