BENTONVILLE, AR.-Employees at some Walmart locations are now wearing body cameras.
Some smaller retailers have started using body cameras as a way to cut down on theft, however, Walmart plans to use the cameras for worker safety, not as a loss prevention tool, according to NBC News reporting.
While it is currently unknown how many Walmart stores are using the cameras, some locations now have signs at entrances warning customers that “body-worn cameras are in use,” according to NBC News’ report on the retail giant’s pilot camera program.
“While we don’t talk about the specifics of our security measures, we are always looking at new and innovative technology used across the retail industry,” a Walmart spokesperson recently told CNBC.
