ELLENSBURG, Wash. – A high-speed chase through Ellensburg ended with the arrest of 35-year-old Charles Farrell. The incident began around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, when Deputy Nate Rawson observed a white Kia running two stop signs in north Ellensburg.

After initially stopping, the vehicle took off again, leading deputies on a pursuit. The chase moved west of Ellensburg and onto I-90, with the Kia reaching speeds over 105 mph. Washington State Patrol Troopers joined the pursuit as the vehicle continued eastbound.

Deputy Jose Serrano deployed spike strips at milepost 108. The Kia hit the strips, losing tire pressure. Serrano then performed a PIT maneuver to bring the vehicle to a stop.

Farrell attempted to flee on foot but was quickly caught. He is facing multiple charges, including felony eluding, obstructing law enforcement officers, possession of a controlled substance, operation of a motor vehicle without a required ignition interlock device, and driving with a suspended license.

Deputy Rawson issued a ticket for the initial stop sign violations. The Kittitas County Prosecutor’s Office is handling the charges against Farrell.

The successful arrest of Farrell was a team effort with assistance from the Washington State Patrol, Ellensburg Police Department, and Central Washington University Police Department.
