KENNEWICK, Wash. – Inside the Benton County Justice Center, Eric and Meghan Eisinger are working on a project aimed at supporting citizens during difficult times.

The family waiting room, located in the prosecuting attorney’s office at the Benton County Courthouse, has recently undergone a transformation. Eric Eisinger, the prosecuting attorney, and his wife Meghan spearheaded the initiative.

Prosecutor Eisinger says the goal is to make crime victims feel more comfortable while interacting with professionals.

“We want people to feel like they are being seen; that they are heard,” said Prosecutor Eisinger. “We want to do whatever we can to encourage them to speak the truth about the really difficult, awful thing that happened to them.” they said.

To improve the room, the Eisinger’s have used donations, including books from the estate of Judge Diana Ruff’s mother and a $500 donation from the Benton County Republican Party.

Meghan Eisinger says they’re doing this to give victims a peace of mind while going through the court system.

“A few people have mentioned wishing that they could send the children home with a little stuffed animal from their time,” said Eisinger. “And so those are some of the places that we would like to use this additional money along with just maintaining it.”
