KENNEWICK, Wash. – Dr. Shannon Phipps has been appointed to the Kennewick Public Hospital Board of Commissioners, filling the unexpired term of Dr. Sheila Dunlop, who resigned for health reasons on Dec. 30.
Phipps, the division chief of Ambulatory Medicine at Kadlec Clinics, expressed her commitment to collaboration between local healthcare facilities.
“I’m not about Kadlec vs. Trios vs. Lourdes,” Phipps said. “To me, this is about trying to help assure that we have the resources to meet patient needs.”
Phipps emphasized the importance of supporting the underserved, highlighting projects such as the recovery center at the old Kennewick General Hospital and new affordable housing developments in the Tri-Cities.
Mark Brault, the commission chairman, described Phipps as a “good strong candidate who will bring a valuable perspective” to the board.
Phipps, one of two candidates considered for the position, alongside Grace Davidson, the elections systems supervisor for Benton County, plans to run for election this year to retain her seat.
