KENNEWICK, Wash. – The SOCO Creative Arts Festival in downtown Kennewick is just around the corner, set to take place this Saturday, September 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The event promises a day dedicated to the nurturing of a larger artist community, most of whom are local to the Tri-Cities.

Also on the docket: tiny art, woodworking, quilts and textile work, dozens of vendors, live music, food, and much more.

Among the highlights is Derek Sheffield, the Washington State Poet Laureate, who focuses on teen mental health.

Stephanie Button, Executive Director of the Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership, gave an overview of the festival’s attractions.

“The SOCO Creative Arts Festival is the festival of festivals,” said Button.

“We have four blocks filled with art, quilts, woodworking, the lit block, artists. We have a culinary corner, so you can get food trucks and local tasty eats [too].”

The festival will also feature a work-in-progress artist lounge studio by Layered Cake Artistry and live music throughout the day.

The event is free and celebrates the creativity of the Kennewick community.

For those planning to attend, ample parking, easy access via the Tri-City Ben Franklin bus routes, and a ticket price of “free” makes it an easily accessible festival.

“It’s going to be a beautiful Saturday,” said Button.

The festival is almost entirely operated by volunteers. The Historic Downtown Kennewick Partnership (HDKP) says that volunteers are still very much needed for the festival.

For more information for potential guests or volunteers, you can find more information on HDKP’s website.
