PASCO, Wash. – Residents of Pasco have something exciting to look forward to as the Pasco Chamber of Commerce brings the Southern tradition of CrawFest to the banks of the Columbia River.
The festival promises a day filled with food, music, and fun for the community.
CrawFest is set to take place from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The event offers a chance to enjoy authentic Cajun crawfish, a treat that Colin Hasting from the Pasco Chamber says is a must-try.
“If you’ve never had authentic Cajun crawfish, got to come down tomorrow,” he said.
Admission to CrawFest is free, but a tray of food, which includes not just crawfish but also potatoes, corn, and sausage, costs about $45.
Hastings noted, “A tray can easily feed two people, sometimes even three.”
For those who might not be fans of crawfish, there are plenty of other options.
Hastings mentioned, “We have food trucks, we have live music, there’s games, there’s contests.”
The festival was partially organized by Buddy Bentz, a New Orleans native who moved to the Northwest and brought with him memories of summer crawfish boils from the south.
All the crawish at the festival were harvested on the west-side of the state, and while the shells are a bit tougher, the taste, the most important part of the crawfish, remains the same.
With its location right on the Columbia River, the festival promises a beautiful setting and great weather, making it an event not to be missed.
