YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. – The Yakima County Fire Marshal announced Friday that a county-wide burn ban will be in effect in unincorporated Yakima County from June 1 to Sept. 1 due to anticipated dry conditions.
The ban prohibits residential outdoor burning, including bonfires and recreational fires, in the unincorporated areas of Yakima County. Agricultural field and orchard burning requires permission through the Yakima Regional Clean Air Agency.
Excluded from the ban are outdoor fireplaces, manufactured portable outdoor devices, cooking appliances and patio warmers.
Those who violate the ban may face a $1,000 fine, arrest and/or jail time. Residential burning should be reported to the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office at 509-574-2500.
