Corporation for Public Broadcasting votes to dissolve organization

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a private agency known for directing federal funding to PBS, NPR and numerous public television and radio stations nationwide, has decided to dissolve.

This decision follows Congress’s move in the summer of 2025 to defund the organization’s operations at the behest of President Trump.

The CPB, established in 1967, had been in the process of winding down ever since. The board of directors said they opted to completely shut down rather than maintain the organization as a shell.
