Coroner Jim Curtice resigns after mutual agreement with Yakima County

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash.–Yakima Coroner Jim Curtice officially resigned after a Mutual Settlement and Separation Agreement with the county.

Through the agreement, the county will pay half of Curtice’s annual gross salary in exchange for his agreement to release Yakima County, commissioners, elected officials and agents from legal claims, according to a Larson Griffee Pickett press release. The county agreed to pay all of Crutice’s health benefits through the end of the year.

Yakima County agreed to Curtice purchasing a cadaver dog, Justice, who has lived with Curtice since coming to Yakima, according to the release.

The agreement states both parties deny allegations of liability and fault of any kind according to the release. Curtice agreed to cooperate with the county if a third party brings a claim or initiates litigation against the county in connection to his role as the coroner.
