Community invited to meet Kennewick School District superintendent finalists

KENNEWICK, Wash. – Kennewick residents are invited to meet and provide input on the three finalists for the Kennewick School District superintendent position.

The interviews will take place on Feb. 4, 5 and 6 at 6 p.m. each day at the Kennewick School District Administration Center. Community members are encouraged to ask questions and provide their input on the finalists.

The selected finalist will succeed current superintendent Dr. Traci Pierce upon her retirement in June.

On Feb. 4, community members will meet Dr. Davion Lewis, current assistant superintendent of student services at South Bend Community School Corporation in South Bend, Indiana.

Dr. Lewis previously worked as the executive director of support and improvement in New Orleans Public Schools, program manager with the New York City Department of Education and superintendent at The RISE Schools in Georgia. He holds a Ph. D in Curriculum Instruction and the Science of Learning from the University of Buffalo.

On Feb. 5, community members will meet Dr. Christopher Nesmith, current superintendent of Elma School District in Washington.

Dr. Nesmith previously worked as executive director of innovation, freshman campus principal, assistant principal and CTE director at the West Valley School District and taught computer science and business in the Shelton School District. He holds an Ed. D. in Educational Leadership from Washington State University and a master’s in education from the University of Washington.

On Feb. 6, community members will meet Lance Hansen, current superintendent of the Lewiston Independent School District in Idaho.

Hansen previously worked as an assistant superintendent, high school principal and high school assistant principal in the same district and taught in the Moscow School District and Emmett Independent School District. He holds a master’s in educational leadership from the University of Idaho.
