KENNEWICK, Wash. – Columbia Ability Alliance’s annual Giving Blitz is in full swing, with 48 hours of non-stop giving.
The Blitz features multiple matching opportunities for donations. Michael Novakovich, President & CEO of Columbia Ability Alliance, explained the structure, stating, “The community gives money. It unlocks the…[sponsor’s] $7,500, so it’ll match. But there’s multiple matches, so one gift can unlock multiple matches turning into tens of thousands of dollars.”
Destry Henderson from H2C shared why they joined the fund. “We’re responsible for the tank waste management mission [at Hanford]. Critically important, but we’re also committed to the community. We strive to do something to make something better every day,” Henderson said.
All donations from the Giving Blitz will go directly to supporting the clients of the Columbia Ability Alliance.
Novakovich emphasized, “We work with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities and people from other marginalized communities. It could be a veteran with PTSD, substance use disorder. We’ll help with vocational training, job placement, social inclusion.”
