PASCO, Wash. – The City of Pasco, in collaboration with Burnham RNG and other partners, will celebrate the expansion of the Process Water Reuse Facility and Pasco Resource Recovery Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony later this month.

The facility transforms process water from seven local food plants into valuable resources such as renewable natural gas and clean water for irrigation.

“By repurposing water from food processing plants, we’re improving our environmental impact, meeting state and federal environmental standards, and harnessing valuable resources like renewable natural gas,” Maria Serra, Pasco’s public works director, said in a release.

Key features include sustainable water reuse, enhanced water treatment, renewable energy generation, algae-based purification, expanded water storage, and efficient project delivery. These enhancements will allow the facility to recycle over one billion gallons of water annually, the city of Pasco release said.

Chris Tynan, Burnham RNG CEO, highlighted the broader impact. “This project does much more than treat wastewater; it unlocks long-term value for the City of Pasco and its industries,” he said.

The ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled to take place March 22, 2025 at 11 a.m.
