City of Pasco introduces overnight truck parking ordinance

PASCO, Wash. – The City of Pasco has announced a new ordinance to support truck drivers who play a crucial role in maintaining supply chains.

Property owners in business and industrial districts can now establish overnight truck parking lots for much-needed rest areas.

These lots must adhere to specific safety and accessibility standards such as parking stalls at least 250 feet from residential areas, parks, and schools, and provide easy access to highways. The maximum lot size is set at 15 acres, the city said.

The city said security remains a priority, with requirements for fencing, good lighting, and an automatic gate with security cameras. Amenities include single-occupancy bathrooms and a water fountain or bottle filler.

Larger lots may need additional features such as pet relief areas, vending machines, picnic spaces, showers, or laundry facilities.
