Pasco, Wash. – Pasco City Councilmember Leo Perales has earned the Advanced Certificate of Municipal Leadership from the Association of Washington Cities (AWC), recognizing his dedication to enhancing municipal governance, the city announced in a release.

This program focuses on five core areas: legal roles, resource management, community planning, leadership, and equity.

Perales said he’s eager to apply his new knowledge to improve city policies and the community’s quality of life.

“It’s given me meaningful insight into how to better advance the issues our city faces, while learning best practices from across Washington,” Perales said in a release.

A lifelong resident of the Tri-Cities, Perales has been serving on the Pasco City Council since 2023, with his current term running through December 31, 2025. He chairs the HAPO Center Advisory Board and has contributed to local initiatives like community policing and the Fiery Foods Festival.

Perales and his wife, Janette, are raising their three children in Pasco, where they are actively involved in community events and youth sports.
