CHELAN COUNTY – The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office has teamed up with BlueBridge Alliance to launch a new program aimed at improving community outreach. Announced in a recent press release, the initiative provides resources like food, clothing, and shelter during officer interactions with community members in distress.

The BlueBridge program offers officers the ability to provide immediate, short-term relief to those in need, potentially preventing involvement in the justice system. This initiative aims to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and the community by offering non-enforcement assistance.

Mike Morrison, Sheriff of the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, emphasized the program’s value.

“BlueBridge Alliance strengthens our ability to serve by providing deputies with immediate, flexible tools to meet urgent community needs,” Morrison said. “We’re deeply grateful for this partnership, which lifts our community, enhances trust, and quietly reflects our mission, vision, and our guiding promise: Of the People. For the People.”

The program was inspired by a 2011 incident in San Diego where a police officer, after buying food for a child in need, was killed in an unprovoked attack. This event led BlueBridge CEO Brian Spracklen to envision a program where officers can perform random acts of kindness.

Co-founded by Spracklen and Kennewick Police Chief Ken Hohenberg (Ret.), among others, BlueBridge has created thousands of meaningful connections between law enforcement and communities since its inception.

Local programs rely on donations from citizens, businesses, churches, and civic organizations. Donations can be in the form of money, goods, or services. For more information on participating or donating, visit their site.
