Cellular Plus backpack giveaway supports local students in Richland

RICHLAND, Wash. – A local Verizon-Cellular store is helping students gear up for the school year with its annual backpack giveaway.

The store has donated over 200 backpacks filled with school supplies to families in need. Randy Gonzalez, district manager of Cellular Plus, shared the motivation behind the initiative.

“This is our way of just handing out a bunch of stuff for free,” Gonzalez said. “We get donations from guests, which is awesome. Us we do donations as employees. And it’s great. Just feels really good to watch families be blessed.”

The event has been a tradition for five years, with backpacks donated by Cellular Plus employees and customers.

For those looking to contribute, the store is still accepting donations. They assure that all contributions go directly to kids in the community. The store is located at 106 Keene Road in Richland.
