Celebrating 8 years of Christmas Tree Jubilee from Angel Brook Farms

KENNEWICK, Wa.– Christmas trees, Santa Claus, bunny rabbits and a corn pit. Sounds like Christmas at the Fairgrounds!

Christmas Tree Jubilee began as a means to get the many other elements of Angel Brook Farms off the ground: their ice cream brick-and-mortar, and their weekend markets namely. Although, Angel Brook Farms owner Kyle Beus says it’s not just a means to an end, but a labor of love.

When you arrive, you find yourself surrounded by Christmas Trees. “I didn’t even know there were this many different kinds of Christmas Trees,” you might say, flanked by signs reading “Douglas,” “Fraser” and “Scotch.” Beus says that all the different variants have their respective strengths and weaknesses, with some being longer-lasting, and others having a stronger scent.

Once you grab your tree (you’re quite late by the way, it’s mid-December for goodness’ sake), you walk right into the market, lined with tchotchkes, artisan-made home-goods and classic middle-of-the-table Christmas sweets like caramel popcorn and toffee bars; all curated by Kyle’s wife, Sandy Beus. “You know it’s good when she picks it, she’s an expert antique-er,” Kyle says.

Then, towards the back is the barn. Inside are baby ducks, goats, bunnies, a Highland cow named rose, and a Christmas camel whose Christmas name is Humphrey (Humphrey did not wish to share his government name to the public). Solo-time with some of the animals does cost a fee.

However, the Jubilee itself doesn’t. It’s free and goes until December 23rd and will host events throughout the rest of December (like Wreath-making and Christmas yoga).
