WALLA WALLA, Wash.- Hummingbird Tea Co is a family-owned business selling premium loose leaf tea celebrating global traditions as well as local flavors in the Pacific Northwest.
Loren Drake, Owner of Hummingbird Tea said their attendance to the World Tea Expo allowed them to make contacts overseas.
“We’re able to meet families that sell tea and grow tea,” said Drake. “We’ve been able to work with a family from Nepal that is a representative of 200 farmers in a co-op.”
Drake said they are able to source teas farm-direct from small growers. For example, some of Hummingbird’s best tea comes from a family in Nepal.
“They’re able to share production and distribution facilities and get world class class tea to the world direct,” said Drake. This helps cut out the middleman allowing farmers to be paid for their work.
Founded in 2021, the Drake family started Hummingbird Tea as food and tea enthusiasts.
“We love big flavor and we just wanted to share something that we loved over the last 20 years with others,” said Drake.
Hummingbird Tea Co. can be found locally at Tri-Cities Food Co-op or served at Farmers Daughter Coffee Bar inside Angelbrook Ice Cream Shop.
