Bridge damage leads to closure on Nile Road in Yakima County

YAKIMA COUNTY, WA – Nile Road is closed at the bridge over Rattlesnake Creek after sustaining flood-related damage on Tuesday, December 9.

The bridge, identified as Bridge #1396, experienced scour at the abutments, which compromised its structural integrity, according to a press release from Yakima County.

Local access remains available for nearby properties, and emergency vehicles can still reach the area as needed. However, through-traffic is prohibited at the bridge location.

Yakima County Engineers will evaluate the bridge’s condition once the floodwaters recede to determine the necessary repairs and timeline.

The road closure is expected to last for several months, depending on the extent of the damage.
