BENTON & FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash.- Boys & Girls Club is a national nonprofit organization providing after school and summer programs for young people.

CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton and Franklin Counties, Brian Ace, said they help people 6-18 years old through mentoring, education support and career and college exploration.

“Boys and Girls Club is a youth service organization,” said Ace. “We are here to support the youth of our community to really invest in that next generation.”

To make their mission possible, Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton and Franklin Counties hosts their Eerkes Memorial Auction and Golf Tournament.

According to Ace, the event started over 20 years ago to commemorate the loss of a community member, Laura Eerkes. Her family started the event in 2003 as a way to honor her life and legacy and to turn their loss into a gift for the next generation of young people.

“It’s an event that supports both Boys & Girls Clubs and Young Life, two amazing youth service organizations here in town,” said Ace.

The Eerkes Memorial Auction and Golf Tournament is a three day event August 7-9th that includes a “horse race” (golf event), dinner and auction and a golf tournament.

Last year, the Eerkes Memorial Event raised over $550,000, with funds staying in the community to help local youth. This annual event helps fund all the programs that make Boys & Girls Clubs of Benton and Franklin Counties possible.

This year’s theme for the event is “Margarita Madness”. Ace said anyone interested in sponsorship opportunities or donating items to the auction can contact them.
