YAKIMA, Wash. – A ten-year-old boy in Yakima had a day to remember as he lived out his dream of becoming a cowboy. Pascual Cisneros, who has faced numerous obstacles including cancer, was able to recapture some childhood magic.
Thanks to the Make-A-Wish Washington Foundation, Pascual went on a shopping spree at the local Boot Barn. His excitement was evident as he ran around the store, picking out items that caught his eye.
“Letting him have that excitement back into his life and, you know, making his wish come true,” a Jessica Galloway, a volunteer with the foundation, said.
Pascual’s mom, Cecily Davis, shared how much this day meant to him.
“He’s been waiting for this for a while. So the day finally came. Every day he asked, ‘Is it Saturday? The eighth already? How many more days?’ Today was. Today was a day. The special day for him,” she said.
Galloway, who has volunteered with Make-A-Wish for over ten years, has granted the wishes of 80 people. She emphasized the uniqueness of each wish.
“Each one is unique to the child. And that’s the best part to see the excitement and joy go into each wish for each child,” she stated.
Pascual, who is bilingual in Spanish and English, proudly represents his Mexican heritage. His mom highlighted his interest in showcasing his culture.
“He’s really into our culture, which is that’s part of our this is our community. So we represent both sides very proud,” she said.
Despite the challenges Pascual has faced in his young life, days like this allow him to forget the hardships and simply be a kid. “
Just seeing him just so hyped like, it’s been a while for him to be back to his childhood life. Then before he, you know, was diagnosed with cancer. So it’s I’m glad to see that smile on my son the before the sickness had took over him. But I thank God every day that he’s here with this, every day that he wakes up every day,” his mom expressed.
For those inspired by Pascual’s story, Galloway noted that anyone can become a volunteer with Make-A-Wish by visiting wish.org.
