KENNEWICK, Wash. – A program designed to inspire youth to engage in agriculture through hands-on livestock projects returns to the Benton Franklin Fair.

According to a release, the Growing Agriculture Leaders and Educators (GALE) program will provide $1,100 to up to four first-time large animal exhibitors.

Eligible animals include beef, sheep, dairy cattle, goats, horses, and swine.

“An important part of the Fair’s mission is to engage more young people in agriculture,” said Duane Howard, Benton Franklin Fair Board President. “This generous endowment helps break down barriers and provides opportunities for kids and their families to take part in these transformative experiences.”

The Benton Franklin Fair is taking applications until March 13, 2025 and can be submitted online. The fair runs August 19-23.
