BENTON COUNTY, Wash. – Benton County deputies made a DUI arrest after two separate pursuits with the suspect that took them through Kennewick, Richland and Pasco.
Deputies saw the suspect on the night of October 27 near South Oak Street and East 19th Avenue. They had pursued the suspect a few nights before and he was wanted on suspicion of DUI, felony eluding, hit and run, and a domestic violence protection order violation.
Deputies attempted to pursue the suspect, but were unsuccessful and stopped to ensure public safety.
The next day, deputies worked with the Pasco Police Department and found the suspect. After taking him into custody, they learned that the car he was driving was stolen, according to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office.
The office said it believes the suspect also stole another vehicle in Richland while he was traveling to Pasco.
Around 7:30 p.m. on October 28, Benton County deputies spotted another possibly intoxicated driver. They attempted to pull the driver over for a traffic stop, but the driver refused.
Benton County Sheriff’s Office said the driver led the deputy on “an ultra low speed chase” from 240 onto the 395 before finally stopping off Yelm.
The driver stepped out of the car, obviously intoxicated, and deputies arrested them on suspicion of DUI, according to the sheriff’s office.
Washington State Patrol helped assist in taking the driver into custody, said the sheriff’s office.
