RICHLAND, Wash. – The legal proceedings for Washington State Patrol Trooper Sarah Clasen have taken a new turn with the rescheduling of another hearing.
Originally set for 8:30 a.m., October 22, the omnibus hearing has been postponed to January 7, 2026.
These changes come as Clasen’s attorney, Scott Johnson, noted ongoing evidence disclosures from the State.
“The defense has only recently had access to some of the State’s evidence and those disclosures are ongoing,” Johnson said. “Until we have complete access to the State’s evidence and complete our investigation, the case cannot proceed.”
Clasen, who is facing a charge of vehicular homicide while driving under the influence, pleaded not guilty at her arraignment. The charge is in connection with the March 1 death of 20-year-old Jhoser Sanchez.
During her arraignment, Clasen was released on personal recognizance under specific conditions. Her attorney argued she has complied with court-imposed rules and attended all required proceedings.
NonStop Local reached out to the State’s attorney, Katie McNulty, Spokane County Assistant Criminal Chief Attorney, and are waiting for a response.
